we spin
round and round we go again
will the downward spiral end
maybe not
maybe we forgot
in the beginning
distracted now with sinning
the sinning spinning satisfies
it denies
nothing
but even nothing
costs something
no soul to sell
we're hollow
a hard pill to swallow
no
we're used to taking pills
and charging all the bills
but our cup never fills
only spills
for means to an end

by way of train via track
it's your choice to leave and look back
and come back one day if you choose
either way you'll see great views
and hear great viewpoints from those you meet
whose drum beats to another beat

on the steps of the station

or stay if wanting the safer bet
but safer doesn't satisfy
those who dream to touch the sky

if you've built castles in the clouds
what pleases masses and the crowds
may not be what works for you
this myself i've proven true

getting ready for the night
i chose a top that was lacy white
then slid on jeans with a button fly
along with my most favorite tie

a wine girl in a brewery
is not what some expect to see
with boots laced up i was fit to be tied
if wine i was to be denied

but to my delight and my surprise
on the menu before my eyes
was a list of wines by the glass
perfect for this wine loving lass

i chose a wine that was white
and then a red later that night
as i much enjoyed an evening out
with my friends and their stout

I learned something from my Great Dane about great expectations. Let them go.
If you expect nothing, you'll never be disappointed. Josette, my 18-week-old pup, taught me this.

"Sit, Josette." She stands up.
She wags her tail and spills my cup.

"Quiet, Josette." She starts to bark.
She runs off chasing squirrels in the park.

She disobeys with every command.
as if my words she can't understand.

She's a puppy.
What can I expect?
Best to pour myself Scotch
and wait for its take effect.
