Have you ever dared yourself? I enjoy doing so on a regular basis. While waiting in a line to board a train, I dared myself to recite a piece of poetry as loud as I could to an unprepared audience. The results made me smile, along with this guy who enjoyed what he heard.
My outburst served as an opportunity to strike up conversation with one of the most fabulous Amtrak employees I have ever met. While we never exchanged names we swapped stories of who we've been told we look like. He started the dialogue with pulling off his knit cap, flashing a certain smile & asking me who I thought he looked like. Before I could answer, he stated while still grinning, "Jack Nicholson."
He told me I look famous, and that if I'm wasn't yet then one day (based on my impromptu performance in line) I surely would be.
I'm happy I accepted my own dare and spoke out of turn while in line. I was rewarded with a smile I'll never forget.
