The answer is 'yes'. I finished this in one sitting. Cheers to massive margaritas at Te'kila on Hollywood Blvd!
Thank you, Amy Kessler, for capturing these sipworthy shots. ;) I'm not a fan of drinking alone. However, some days call for it.
This day in particular called for Imbue Bittersweet Vermouth from Gaston, Oregon. Not a Vermouth drinker? This will change your mind... If you've never had a 'lemgerine' (lemon + tangerine), buckle up. Imbue serves up aromatics with serious hang time. Prepare your palate for saturation that's smooth to start and sharper on the finish. Straight up by itself or mixed in a cocktail, it's nothing short of spectacular. Cheers! Allie When life gives you strawberries, make daiquiris. Strawberry jam is good, but I think we can all agree that daiquiris are better.
Here's my secret recipe that upon posting here is a secret no longer. As I rarely measure anything, I leave it to you to have fun with the proportion of each ingredient. Allie's Signature Strawberry Daiquiri - Strawberries - Myers's Rum - Brown Sugar 1) Cut up as many ripe, juicy strawberries as you wish. I use 4 pints (as the quantity seems to sufficiently fill the blender). 2) Toss the strawberries into the blender and pour in as much rum as you wish. In my opinion, 'go big or go home'. As I'm a HUGE fan of island rum (particularly those from Jamaica or Trinidad), I generally use Myers's Rum or the like. 3) Here's the once secret (but no longer secret) ingredient. Brown sugar. Add a solid amount of brown sugar to taste. 4) Blend it up. Pour it out. Tip it up. Cheers! Allie
So, who is this 'Tom Collins' character anyway? Tom Collins is both a beverage (basically gin with sparkling lemonade) and a hoax. Ever heard of the Great Tom Collins Hoax of 1874? The prank began as a game, in which someone would ask another if he'd seen Tom Collins, going on to say that this character (who didn't really exist) had been spreading rumors about him. This would infuriate the individual who would go looking for this 'Tom Collins' fellow, only to find out that he never really existed, leaving the individual feeling foolish.
