When I'm out at a bar, I'll order a Whiskey Sour. As far as getting a good drink goes, it's a safe bet.
However, when I'm at home and get to play bartender, I serve myself a 'Scotch Sour'.
It's a bit more specific in terms of its construction. Here's how to build it:

Using a high end sipping Scotch, such as Oban, for a mixed drink
may not go over well with the guy who bought the bottle.
