Allie: Want to grab a drink tonight? Kelly: Sure. There's a new place that just opened called The Drifter. Allie: Crazy! I was just reading about the place earlier today on the train. Kelly: It's a speak-easy-esque place over on Orleans. Allie: I'm in. Let's go.
Kelly & I share a love of 'eclectic experiences'. That's what we had hoped to find at The Drifter, and indeed that's what we found.
It's all in the cards (i.e. the cocktails) at The Drifter.
With a cocktail menu that comes in the form of cards, tip back the cocktail of your choice based on the tarot card you select. For added adventure, you may opt to 'pick a card, any card' from the deck of drinks and blindly go with that beverage.
It's not just an act. It's many.
Not just a single act with one form of entertainment for the evening, The Drifter offers a series of acts on its eclectic stage. While Kelly and I unfortunately arrived just in time to miss the cabaret dancer, we caught the comedian and freak show. Freak show? Yup. The guy drilled through his nose with a power drill and stood on saw blades all while chugging a beer as he spun a disc on a rod placed in his newly bored nose hole. Bearing witness to that required another beverage.
"A drifter myself, this place resonated with the ebb and flow of eclectic experiences I've come to so enjoy in life. One sip at a time, the artisan libations were unique and undeniably awesome. Everything I saw and sipped heightened the moments shared with my sipping accomplice, Kelly, and the small roomful of imbibing patron. Speaking of 'small roomful', The Drifter is a 'petite' place. Think 'cellar store room' re-imagined and re-inspired with heirloom accents, vintage lighting and a historic hardwood bar." -Allie Merrick
